This was an eagerly anticipated weekend for our regular boarders and all the children attending our “Boarding Taster Weekend”. It was our popular Christmas shopping trip and meal at Cosmo. Great fun for everyone. Mr Hobson, too, had been looking forward to this trip since last year!
On Saturday afternoon the seniors watched a Christmas film. Mrs Mansfield and the juniors enjoyed a fun swim, mince pie and Christmas card making. We even made our own sweet pastry. Look out for Sophie and Aanya on Masterchef soon…very impressive pastry work girls! We enjoyed making Christmas cards in the art room for friends and family and were very careful to leave the art room immaculate after ‘glitter gate’ last weekend…
After tea, we all gathered in the Assembly Hall for our special Christmas evening. With the fires lit, we enjoyed hot chocolate and Christmas biscuits and watched the classic ‘Snowman’ film. Mr Saunders then led everyone in singing ‘The twelve days of Christmas’, featuring James ‘Five golden rings’ Harman! We had a few fun games of Charades to follow. The seniors also enjoyed their usual films back in houses afterwards.
On Sunday morning we had a great cooked breakfast before loading up on our 70 seater super coach (only one empty seat!) and heading for Derby. The children enjoyed time browsing their favourite shops in the morning. We all walked to Cosmo for lunch and the children all loved choosing from the huge selection on offer. Several were heard to say that it was ‘the best day ever’ purely on the strength of lunch! All (very) well fed, we walked back to the Intu centre for a final hour around the shops before heading back to Foremarke.
Our Taster children headed home with their parents (we are sure they will have slept well!) and everyone else had some time to relax in houses and enjoy their purchases. A busy weekend, but a thoroughly enjoyable one – really super children who were a pleasure to be with and great behaviour from all. Special thanks to all the boarding staff this weekend for all their care and effort in making it such a brilliant weekend for the children – #BHMF! JEH
