This weekend the boarders enjoyed some football and swimming with Mr Masters or some time to relax in houses on Saturday afternoon, with their usual films on Saturday evening.
On Sunday we attended the Remembrance service on a chilly morning at the National Memorial Arboretum. Some of our boarders were part of the Chamber Choir who sang beautifully at the event. We watched the service and then Mr Hobson and Mr Wells took the children on a tour of the site, explaining the different memorials and stories behind them. It was certainly a thought-provoking experience for all.
We returned to school for a much needed hot lunch and then enjoyed some activities on site in the afternoon and free time. In the evening we visited St Saviour’s for our own local Remembrance service. Marisa read superbly well and Augustus, Will G and Padraig were all fantastic helpers. The role of laying the wreath was given to two children with military parents. Josh and Brady took this responsibility very seriously and were equally superb in their roles.
I am incredibly proud of the engagement of all the children and their excellent behaviour throughout the weekend. We now look forward to an exciting lead up to Christmas with lots of exciting things planned for the children between now and the end of term…JH
